By 1936 the electric railway was extended across Finchley Road

The railway over Finchley road was completed in 1924 but only to Hendon Central whilst the remainder of the extension was completed.

In 1896 this area was largely open country

At this date Golders Green Station was a northern terminus of the London Electric Railway's route from Charing Cross, Euston and Hampstead. At a later date the line was extended across the road to run to Edgware via Brent Cross and Hendon. Today we know it as the Northern Line of London Underground
