Hello

Do you know any of the history of this particular spot? There used to be a metal shelter in one corner, euphemistically know in my childhood as "the changing rooms" Behind this there is a slope leading upwards. My grandfather knew this slope as "the marble staircase" for some reason. I am aware of the areas history as brickfields etc. The slope I mention is covered in clay pipe stems and as a child we found many bowls. Any more information would be very interesting.

Viaduct bridge and lake - still in use. The bridge was constructed at the time the Heath was being considered for housing - thankfully it wasn't.

Tumulus - still on the Heath protected by a fence. The large area around looks like allotments - possible a hangover from the 1st world war? Now grassed over

Bridge replaced by a dam - date unknown, probably pre second world war as it was dammed by 1958 when I started to live in the area. The top part is now for mixed bathing - I have used it in the 1960s
