The entrance to a railway tunnel. This could well be the breakthrough to locating these three images. Smiley face.

This is Littlebury Tunnel south portal. The tunnel portal is Grade II listed. 'Railway tunnel portal. 1845 by Robert Stephenson for the Eastern Counties Railway. Egyptian-style, yellow brick and stone. Upward-tapering brick facade, surmounted by stone cornice and entablature. Tunnel mouth formed by semicircular stone arch, within five concentric receding rings of brickwork, all springing from a rusticated stone plinth at each side. The tunnel was built in order to preserve the privacy of Audley End House.'

Thanks Class 31 (do you like 'toffee apples'?), it was the tunnel that gave it away. I was following railway lines on a 1931 map in the area of other photos taken on that date.

As the aircaft have the taller fin and given the date, I suggest these are B-50s

I agree. The presence of under-wing tanks also points to them being B50's.
