Apparently there was a line in this photo but not where you are indicating.The line was installed in the 1930s to bring supplies and remove waste from the Heaton Park resevoir during construction.The line ran from Whitefield station across the fields,there was a level crossing at Thatch Leach lane.That is all I have been able to find out.If you look towards the right hand side of Thatch Leach,there seems to be disruption to the landscape up to the reservoir area.I cant see how they linked the track at Whitefield station
