Steps from 'Muffet' down to railway yard, family would then walk, with great caution, across the rail tracks next to the bridge, to get to the platform, and in the opposite direction to return. This would not be allowed now! Sometimes a goods truck would be shunted from the west side to the yard, it's would just come eerily under the bridge at quite a speed! So you had to be very aware of train activities!

Artist Studio belonging to Stanley Wray Barwell who's father was Frederic Barwell, portrait in National Gallery, the studio was purchased by Walter Charles Bill, for the sum of £15, his family used it until it was taken back by the railway company.
