Still had the three lanes in the early 80s. Some people drive as if it was still there.

from the shadows, slightly longer than the object, this means for August it is about 11am or 3.30pm with the sun in SE or SW.The road at right angles is going NE or NW.

The photo taken earlier same day at Smalley has similar shadows coming from the SW, so we assume it is in the afternoon. So confident the road is going from NW foreground to SE in the distance.
