This is a London Transport "Q"-type, such as was used on the Uxbridge-Harefield 309 route via Denham. It is here on the A412 travelling towards Harefield.

Denham Service Station was quite a substantial arrangement for the time and is much more impressive than the modern replacement. It probably reflects the fact that at that time, the A40 was the main route from London to the West. Since the building of the M4 and M40 its importance is now substantially diminished.
