From press reports and photo (attached) I am fairly sure that the ship is the coaster Anastasi which foundered on Christmas Day 1946, while on her way from Barrow to N Ireland. The ship was built as the J&J Monks by Scotts at Bowling (on the River Clyde) in 1909. The remains are said to be still visible at low tide. CAUTION - tides and sandbanks!!

I believe that this fantastic group of large cranes is at Barrow in Furness shipbuilding yards.

This was the main clue to resolving the location of this group of three photographs. There are very few places with such massive cranes which helped to narrow the location down.

The attached press cutting gives further info' and helps confirm - I think - that the ship is indeed the coaster Anastasi.

I am prepared to suggest that the wreck is on the Duddon Sands just north of Walney Island near Barrow in Furness.
