There was once a motor garage here belonging to the Rest Hotel. In a previous era there had been the tearoom gardens of an older inn. Today there is a large Premier Inn squashed into the site.

This row of chalet shops balanced precariously to the side of Kenton Bridge were owned by the railway who rented them out to a variety of small businesses. At one time there was a toyshop, an estate agents, a watchmakers, a needlework shop, a radio and TV shop and a coal merchants. All disappeared in the 1980s when the new Sainsbury's development necessitated a change in the road layout.

Warner's flower shop, a familiar feature here for many years, its heady aromas contrasting starkly with the acrid smell of Jeyes fluid coming from the adjoining Kenton Station.

This footbridge over the LMS railway, connecting Northwick Avenue and The Ridgeway, was present before either road existed, as it maintained an older right of way connecting Sheepcote Farm with Woodcock Hill Farm and onwards to Preston.

Curly's Cafe. A very strange place. A cafe built in a converted wooden garage building to the rear of the shops in an alley running off Draycott Avenue. The concept today in today's Health and Safety conscious environment would cause apoplexy. Curly, nevertheless, did a very commendable home boiled ham. The chief attraction for youngsters was a genuine pinball machine, a rarity. It is said that a young Keith Moon (a local boy from Wembley) was a frequent visitor. The cafe certainly existed up until the early '70s.

The original Sainsbury store in Kenton. It comprised two inter-connected sections; one for dry goods, the other for meat and dairy etc. After being served, payment was made at a separate enclosed booth at the rear of the shop. Decorative tiled surfaces everywhere as was the custom in the old Sainsbury stores.
