The former L&Y line to Bury is the only one of these lines that is still open.

To Bolton surely?

From this point northwards there appears to be overhead electrification portal over the line ... but I can not find any reference to such a scheme on this part of the Lancashire and Yorkshire.

The overhead masts you can see crossing the viaduct carry the AC electric from the Clifton Power Station to the sub-station at Radcliffe, close to the Manchester, Bolton and Bury canal, for conversion to DC for the Manchester to Bury electrified line. You can see the "H" poles either side of the viaduct. Another set of wires went the other way to Manchester Victoria, where a second sub-station was sited.

The Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. There appears to be a ballast train in the siding to the right and some work going on around the junction with new ballast beside the tracks.

The 1931 trees seem to have been pollarded.

Molyneux Brow railway station. This, I think, is probably one of the only photographs that shows this station. The M60 motorway runs through here now.
