At the railway bridge down this road, there was an Anti-Tank rail barrier manned by the Manod Home Guard Platoon during the Second World War. The Manod Home Guard use to place the big railway tracks in the road sockets during Home Guard maneuvers/exercises (Photo attached is not the location, but it's what the barrier looked like during wartime)

Manod railway station on the ex-GXR line from Blaenau Ffestiniog Central to Bala Junction. The station featured briefly in the early Cold War spy film "Conspirator" starring Elizabeth Taylor and Honor Blackman.
