Advocates Close leads from High Street to Cockburn Street and dates back to mediaeval times. This area is currently (2013) being restored and redeveloped to provide tourist and office accommodation. The photograph shows a plaque, explaining the origin of the Close's name with other information; it is mounted near the top entrance to the Close in High Street.
