This was Halfords in the 80s. I worked there.

This once housed the Hundred Elms Dairy, a retail outlet for the dairy farm of the same name in Sudbury. The farm was eventually absorbed into the United Dairies combine and the shop went with it and remained a United Dairies outlet for many years.

For many years this was a branch of Lidstone's butchers. More recently it was, I think, trading as Cromwell's Bazaar; a place that you would visit if you needed some really awful clothes.

This appears to be an AEC Regent STL-type bus. These came into production before London Transport came into being, but continued in production afterwards, up until the eve of WW2. They had a similar appearance to the AEC RTs that followed. The bus pictured here would still have been quite new.

This appears to be an ex-LGOC AEC Regent ST-type (with the cowl over the driver's cab). When it came into existence in 1933, London Transport also acquired some ex-Tilling STs , which had a rather different bodywork design - particularly the upper deck. These continued to operate on the former Tilling routes in South London.

As I remember, this was a showroom for the North Thames Gas Board. Here you could view and buy the latest gas appliances or pay your bill. However at the time of the photograph, it would still have been the premises for the Gas Light and Coke Company, one of its earlier constituent companies.

A typical Sainsbury's of the time. The shops were often split into two parts; one part for dry goods and the other for meat and dairy. The wall were of decorated tiling and payment was not made to the person serving you, but a receipt was given to the customer and payment made to a cashier in a booth at the rear of the shop.

This Met goods shed existed long after the closure of the goods yard and was incorporated in the building supplies merchants that opened on the site (Broad's). All was swept away when the site was redeveloped as an apartment development and a Morrison's supermarket.

The pub was rebuilt in a rather unattractive 1960s style. It gained quite a reputation as being a bit of a rough house. When it closed, it became a branch of Burger King (also now closed).
