Palmer's Offices. I remember the beautiful entrance Foyer. Really posh and gleaming. Out of sight across the road which had a railway line in the centre was the Quay Board school

Ann St that went from Church St to Lamport St. My photo from my www.oldtyneside.co.uk website was taken in 2002. It shows the gap where houses once stood . Those houses were hit by a Luftwaffe air raid aiming for the shipyards,

Ellison St which is on a hill leading to the river. The photo is from my www.oldtyneside.co.uk website & shows Mr Chadkirk on Ellison St. As you can see it is on a slope so the houses are on the east side of the street.

Bonnacord St which was built for some of Mr Leslie's work force. Andrew Leslie came down to Hebburn in the mid 1800s from Scotland & lots of Scotsmen followed to find jobs in his shipyard. My Granda Robert Dunn walked down from Old Kilpatrick north of Glasgow about 1913 & found work at Leslies as a Blacksmith's Striker.

Carr St. My photo of Carr St was taken at the Prince Consort Rd end of the street looking this way towards 'C'Pit. In the old days Carr St was a busy shopping area with lots & lots of shops.

St Andrew's Presbyterian Church. My grandfather Robert Dunn came from Old Kilpatrick in Scotland to live in Hebburn about 1913 & took his family to the church. He also rang the bells on mass days.

The Reay Gear Works which in the late 1920s took over these buildings after Newcastle Shipbuilding Co went bankrupt. In later years the factory was taken over by Richardson Westgarth & named RW Transmissions. It finally closed in mid 1970s & the land is now a Housing Estate (Tyne View)
