It is possible that the Claypath address is incorrect. Recent alterations to my house (built in the same year as the photograph of the works) have uncovered a brick with the company's stamp on .

DURHAM BRICK & TILE Co. CROOK HALL. DURHAM CITY . My house is in Durham Moor , no more than a mile from where the works used to be.

This series of photos of the Claypath Works of Durham Brick & Tile Company has me completely bemused. Was it actually anywhere near Claypath?

It was between the sewage works on the riverside and the East Coast Main line; along Frankland Lane.
