The Rayners Hotel would appear on this site in 1937. Now listed Grade 2, it has been closed and unoccupied for a few years, awaiting a new use and is currently in quite a poor state. Edit: It seems to have been acquired for use as an education centre for an evangelical Christian organisation. It's a shame that it could not have found a use as a hospitality venue of some sort, but at least it will no longer be empty and decaying.

The Grosvenor Cinema would appear here within the next year or two. It would be known variously as the Odeon, the Gaumont and the Ace. It is now a cultural centre for Zoroastrians who appear to have kept the grade 2* listed building in good order. It's a pity that the same cannot be said for much of the rest of Rayners Lane.

The Ridgeway - the line of trees presumably marks the course of a seasonal stream that caused occasional flooding in the roadway long after the area was fully built up

The Headstone Hotel. Demolished, I think, in the early 1980s and replaced by offices and a housing development (Churchill Court.)

From the 1950's I knew it as Yeading Brook. Hooking Green was the local area roughly where the crossroads are now in North Harrow (Imperial Drive and Pinner Road)
