The Red Lion featured a large statue of a lion, high up on the frontage of the building.

In the 1960s (?) the front of the building was dismantled and moved to the National Tramway Museum at Crich in Derbyshire. After being stored for several years, it has since been reconstructed, complete with lion atop.
