Gents - I have been following Sir Alan Cobham's National Air Display around the country trying to find the exact field he used for his various displays. This is the visit to Hamsey Green, Warlingham on 29/30 April 1930. A previous photo - EPW041038 - showed the display team heading east near Woldingham before turning north to fly to the east of Kings Wood on a northerly track on this photo. EPW041037 showed them flying on SW course over the top of Hamsey Green heading down towards Caterham. Either they are flying around in formation before landing and carrying out the display - which I think is the more likely - or departing in style for Faringdon - their next Venue - 01 May 1933. The pin is located on the southern boundary of a curved field to the east of Kingswood Lodge. The SW end of the field is bordered by Moseshill Shaw and the SE boundary is bordered by an extension of woods from Oaken Shaw. It lies in a distinctive valley with the ground rising to the west. Hamsey Green is on the left hand edge of the photo about halfway up.

Sorry folks, I disagree. I can't make the woodland shapes work properly for a camera location above Kenley station.

However, I think a camera location above Farleigh, looking to the west over Kingswood is feasible. In the lower third of the image we'd have Kingswood Lodge, with Moseshill Shaw and part of Oaken Shaw. What are your thoughts?

Ok think I've got it. We're above Kenley station with the landing ground at Warlingham visible

From the sequence of the image reference this is likely to have been taken on 30th April 1933 somewhere between Warlingham and Faringdon.

I think this may be closer to Warlingham than Faringdon as EPW041038 had us flying East and the aircraft are full. I've been flying in figure 8's trying to figure this out.

Planes flying: G-ACCX, G-ABUL Tiger Moth, G-ABYX, G-ACEY, G-ABVH and G-ABYH rotor plane G-ABUC underneath. Seem too be flying in same formation as EPW041037 and EPW041038 ie taken on same flight?
