This house is very unusual with four roofs arranged in the form of a cross, sited opposite the church.

Entrance to extensive parkland, ther must be a substantial house up here somewhere.

It looks to me like third rail. But very unusually the third rail is on the same side for both tracks. Normally at the edge except in stations, I think.

Where was third rail in use in 1929? I've tried to search the Southern Electric (e.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/36844288@N00/4021376117). Where else might it be?

Quite a lot of places apparently. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railway_electrification_in_Great_Britain#650_V_-_750_V_DC.2C_third_rail amongst other places. Much of the south east out to Orpington and Wimbledon. Merseyside, Manchester and Tyneside.

This line has been electrified since June 1926.

Historically St Mary's Bexley was the centre of a large parish.

Location seems undoubtedly right. 1936-9 1:2500 map at

http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html?coords=549800,173500

shows curious rectangular pathway near cemetery.
