The building by the tag was a beam-engine pumping house. It took water from a borehole and distributed it to a number of water tanks that served water cranes in the area. |

Ilkeston Town LMS Railway Station, middle right, was served by one of the shortest branch lines in the country. It followed part of the route of today's Millership Way road. You can see the junction (Ilkeston Junction) with the Erewash Valley main line and the two curves coming from it at the top of the picture. This was one of three railway stations serving Ilkeston at this time, two operated by the LMS and one by the LNER. |
