This is an ungated crossing. The road traffic would be stopped by men with red flags, before the train would proceed at walking pace.

According to Wikipedia the station was named Southampton Terminus on 9th July 1923. Prior to this it was known as Southampton Town for Docks. The namings are complicated and you would need to research them to be sure of accuracy of names and dates.

View looking west.
