This part of the complex housed classrooms for years three and four. On the lower floor Oakes Civic Youth Club could be found in the 1960's.

This area was where in the 1950's the younger children played.

This building, the Oakes Baptist Church Hall, was where in the 1950's we ate our school dinners. They had been prepared in a central kitchen and delivered to the school in huge containers. On one unforgettable occasion I found a chrysalis in the winter salad!

Oakes County Infants and Junior School, I was there from 1965 until 1971 when I went to "big school" Salendine Nook.

Mr Featherstone was the Headmaster and my Head teacher was Mrs Brook.

I remember tales of the clock tower being haunted, which only served to inspire us to try and get access in and climb the stairs.

The school still stands, but sadly neglected, it will be only a matter of time before it is demolished.
