As previously mentioned, this photo has captured the factory under construction in 1926. Adding to a separate dedicated 'Terry's of York' group, just created, as that seemed like a good idea. http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/groups/terrys-york

This photograph captures not only our famous Terry's factory under construction, but the nearby church of St Chad on Campleshon Road.

... and this year parts of the factory were being demolished (not the handsome iconic buildings, which are being retained) - photo taken on 29 March 2012

Thanks for this contribution, YorkStories! It's somehow really sad but also admittedly fascinating to follow up like this on the lifespan of a building. Do you happen to know what is planned to replace these buildings after their 86 years in the service of producing chocolate?

This image was taken the year the factory opened, and seems to have captured it under construction. The famous Terry's Chocolate Orange was manufactured here.

The factory closed in 2005. The red brick buildings and landmark clock tower are being retained. Peripheral buildings were being cleared from the site in early 2012. See http://www.yorkstories.co.uk/news_and_views/index.php/2012/03/29/terrys-factory-site-29-march-2012/
