This mansion was Holywell Mount (1879) built by (and for) GA Wallis, agent to the Duke of Devonshire and Eastbourne's first mayor. It ended its days (c.1965) as Ravens Croft, a school for girls. There was a playing field on the other side of St John's Road that was accessed by a private subway from within the school complex.

Is this just a sheltered place to sit and admire the view?

The large building in the foreground must be 'The Cliff', known locally as Earp's Folly. This was situated in the triangle of land bounded by St John's Road, South Cliff and Mount Road. William Earp built the Grand Hotel.

This is on the site of a group of 1970s built flats called Ravens Court, Mount Road just off South Cliff in Eastbourne.

One person staring from a bike. Does that count? :-) Also another standing below on the cliff(?) path.

Someone will surely know where this is. English south-coast resort with white cliffs? Very identifiable cliffs and houses.
