In addition to many other commissions, he was the architect of over 40 workhouses, over 90 churches, 3 lunatic asylums, Reading Gaol and Buckingham Gaol, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in Whitehall and the Midland Grand Hotel by St Pancras Station with 300 bedrooms. He was also responsible for the Prince Consort National Memorial (aka the Albert Memorial) in Kensington Gardens.
