Fog man's hut. Usually a member of the permanent way staff was called out in foggy weather to man these posts. He would place a detonator on the track when the signal was at caution and remove it when it went to clear. The detonator would explode with a crack when run over and warn the driver. Sometimes the man would be on duty all night with only a brazier to keep warm by.
