GSNC took the ship out of service and closed down Eagle Steamers immediately following the 1966 Merchant Seamans Strike. The service was a bloody nuisance for those with business in the area because the ship sailed from Tower Pier around 0900hrs every day causing Tower Bridge to open which created traffic chaos all around.
