This was the Hamble production site of the Fairey Aviation Co., who acquired the site in 1916, during WW1. Aircraft development and production continued on this site until after WW2 when the site was given over to a sister company, Fairey Marine, who were involved in boat production, primarily for the leisure market. Wartime disruptive pattern camouflage paint is still evident on the building roofs.
