OLD ENTRANCE ON 'WELLHEAD LANE' THESE BUILDINGS STILL STAND. (THIS ICI SITE BECAME IMI,WITTON (IMPERIAL METAL INDUSTRIES, also IMI KYNOCK), ICI INDUSTRIES was demerged and its Pharmaceutical Division was taken over by a Swiss company, the remainder which included the paints division with its DULUX brand became part of AKZO NOBEL. ALFRED NOBEL, who invented 'DYNAMITE', was so saddened at what his invention was used for( military, destruction) that he instigated an institution for the promotion of beneficial causes, THE NOBEL FOUNDATION, awarding annual prizes.
