This was the location of Ford Railway Station on the North Mersey Branch to Bootle docks, with a junction to an alternative route to Liverpool Exchange via the Southport line.The regular electric passenger service, starting at Aintree Sefton Arms station, ceased in 1951 , although the DC third rail was stilll in place until about 1957 so to enable special Overhead Railway services to Aintree Sefton Arms Station during the Grand National meetings.
