This building was the local 'Dole' or Labour Exchange.It was demolished & since the 1990s it has been a Nursing Home.

This land is where Hebburn 'B' Pit was in the 1700s through the 1800s. Sir Humphrey Davey came to Hebburn after an invitation from the Ellison's who owned land & coalmines & tested his new safety lamp using methane gas from the 'B' Pit.

Simpson's Hostel on High Lane Row in Hebburn. The Hostel was built for Palmer's to accommodate their migrant workers probably until they found a house in Hebburn or Jarrow. I think its original name was 'Palmer's Hostel' Photo from my www.oldtyneside.co.uk website
