' Hebburn Park officially known as 'Carr Ellison Park'. Originally it was the garden for Hebburn Hall & the lakes were part of the garden. The lakes were created in the late 1800s possibly 1870s by building embankments to act as retainers for the water. Hebburn did have old Quarries that were flooded but they were near where Campbell Park Rd is today & at the south of the old Leslies Sportsfield (Now a housing estate called Sullivan Walk) '
