Turpentine Lane. The double right-angle kink of the lane is visible in maps of the late 18th century where it skirts the "White Lead Works" of that time.
The same kink now runs behind some fine Cubitt-development houses.
Turpentine Lane is a whole storey lower than adjacent streets, perhaps indicating its age. '
