' When I was growing up in the 1980s in Hornby Boulevard, this was called the Black Bridge on account of the black bricks that were used to make it. In the early 1990s, the road underneath it was bollarded to prevent access to cars and reduce throughput traffic. This was done after a small child, Colin Lee, died tragically after being hit by car. The community of Hornby Boulevard campaigned heavily for speed bumps, but in the end the bollards were put up. Bollards were also put up at the other end of the "Bully" (outside the picture to the right) to reduce car traffic from Knowsley Road. '
