' Sale Grammar School for Girls. Well it was in my day! I believe they actually let BOYS in these days!! The old house had been added to several times by the looks of things. The dining room was to the left as you look at it, and the school extension was to the right and rear of the old house. The Fairclough corridor was opened the year I started (1969) or possibly the year before. It was named in honour of a previous headmistress, Miss Fairclough. There is a sad tale concerning my headmistress, Miss Moore, who used to have a big house in Brooklands Road. Her son died on the Manchester Airport disaster on 22nd August 1985. '
