This is a double-decker swing bridge that carries a road on top and a railway line from the docks to the Portishead Branch on the lower deck. The asymmetric swing section turns on its ‘centre’ being the pier below the control tower arched over the road deck. Image EPW033497 shows a train approaching the bridge from the Docks side. '
