' A two coach train of old, arc roofed, 'Brighton' coaches stands behind a former 'Brighton' tank engine, probably for the branch line to Ardingley. These steam services carried on after the electrification of the main line. It is possible a 'pull-push' train as the Southern called them driven from the front carriage when the engine was at the back of the train. '
