' This was the base of a boys' gang who called themselves the 'river gang' ( myself and my brother Pat were founder members) . From this shingle beach they would launch a salvo of stones on any vessel that came within range -this included Police boats! We did for devilment really, only later did I realise how dangerous it was. '
