Dunn Square Gardens in the town centre bounded by the river cart,Causeyside street and Gauze street.At the centre of the gardens is a statue of Queen Victoria to commemorate her Diamond Jubilee in 1897. The statue faces south as it was considered inappropriate for it to look north (as she would be looking the public conveniences in the face!! '
