' Here is Etloe House, sometimes known as Etloe Place. Built c.1760 with various additions in 1850's it became the residence for a time of Cardinal Wiseman (see plaque erected by local historical society which is now defunct). A road bordering the site is named after him. In the rear, in what used to be the extensive gardens, is an infant Catholic school wherein there exists an Ice House also dating from the house origins.
