' Lightpill Mill - GL5 3QF Grade 2 listed building - English Heritage Building ID: 131299 This image is looking towards the North with the West to the left. Once a woollen manufacturer (Roberts, Jowlings & Co., established about 1850), later home of Erinoid casein plastics made here for about 70 years from 1912. Casein plastic was popular for buttons and door handles due to the colours it took and its hardiness. Largely replaced by oil based plastics. Principal range early C19. Hammerdressed rubble. Corrugated iron roof. 4 storeys. 10 ranges 1 mid-C19 ashlar attic dormer with clock and moulded gable coping taken on pilasters. Chimney at south end Range to west at south end: mid C19. Hammerdressed rubble. Pitched slate roof with louvred skylights. 4 storeys and basement. 11 ranges of mullioned windows. Industrial windows with glazing bars on 3rd floor. Arch with keystone in basement to take mill stream. Range to east at north end: mid C19. Hammerdressed rubble. Pitched slate roof. 3 storeys. 9 ranges '
