' This yard was one of Hartleys despatch areas onto the adjacent railways. Hartleys owned and used a couple of small tank locomotives on the site to take wagons of their product to sidings on the extension line (formerly Cheshire Lines) just opposite this yard, and to the former LMS (ex LYR)line passing along the north side of the factory. Product was loaded from the three vast warehouses on site (one of which supports the clock tower) The on site railway tracks went into the warehouse loading area inside the factory through an entrance that can be seen on the north side of the works.
