This was the Crusher.The workmen that worked on the slag heap would drill holes into the slag & put dynamite down the holes. A siren would sound as a warning to keep clear & then there was a massive explosion. The large pieces of slag was then taken to the crusher. The end product was gravel ideal for road making. '
