Sandra - you are quite welcome to join my Great Yarmouth Group. There are other sites I have up and running about Great Yarmouth which you would probably also find interesting. Not sure if you can access my email as an admin - but get in touch ! Swanny ( Swanny1958 )

Hello Sandra I really enjoyed your talk at Swindon Museum this evening, thank-you. I know you displayed your e-mail address on the final slide, but I didn't write it down, so I guess I'm already testing the interactive potential of your website (which is something that really impressed me!) by trying to contact you this way. As you can see I've already registered, and found some photos from 1920 of the town where I was born (Minehead in West Somerset - though a bit later than 1920!), and also of the Beacontree Estate in Essex where my mum grew up, and Barking Power Station, where my grandfather worked. So we will spend some time perusing those, and I'm sure we can add some reminiscences and photos to the images. I think it's wonderful that this database has been created so that it can be added to by lay people like me, and so can continue to grow and be a living resource - though I think there are probably some caveats around that to do with future funding and monitoring. But its potential is brilliant! As well as to say thank-you, I also wanted to contact you to say that I'm the chair of Swindon Film Society (www.swindonfilm.org.uk) Apart from the various programmes of films throughout the year we also coordinate Swindon Film Festival in early March, when we like to work with partners to bring different dimensions to film-going experience. It seems to me that there may be some potential to work with you in future, so that we could introduce your excellent project to a wider audience in the context of a feature or documentary film. I don't have anything in mind at the moment, but thought I'd make contact now in case anything crops up or comes to mind in future. And of course I'd be delighted to hear from you if you have any ideas! If you want to contact me, best to use the e-mail address swindonfilm@ntlworld.com Regards Barbara Hoffbauer Swindon Film Society swindonfilm@ntlworld.com 01793 330639 www.swindonfilm.org.uk
