This is the "High Level" station, the "Low Level" one was on the line to Three Bridges and Tonbridge Wells which passed underneath it at right angles.

The original East Grinstead station on the LBSCR Three Bridges-Tunbridge Wells line. Later known as High Level. The Oxted-East Grinstead line later passed beneath the site to a station immediately south of the HL, where it met the Lewes-East Grinstead line end on. A connecting spur was built from St Margarets Jct to enable trains from the north to serve the HL station.
