The Adelphi Cinema is just out of shot along Bath Road.It opened on 17th February 1930. The Beatles played there on 18th May 1963. The cinema is now a bingo hall. Photograph taken today from Bath Road looking south.

In the 60s I saw a concert with Cilla Black (who sang 'Anyone who had a heart'), Gene Pitney and some other pop groups of the time. I think one group may have been The Swinging Blue Jeans. I'd love to know who else played that evening as my memory fails me as to who else was on the bill.

This used to be a hardware store - Rabbits(?) - the bus stop for the 446 was located by the shop. The buses came up from the station via the road next to St Ethelberts and turned right into the Stoke Road.

Burlington Avenue. As you went down the avenue towards Chalvey - the first building on the right was a maternity unit where I was born in 1945.

Is this the Station Hotel? It was knocked down during the redevelopment of the Town Centre.

Junction of the High Street with the Stoke Road. In the early 60's a pole was erected on the centre island; on top was a red light - if anybody was killed on the roads in Slough the red light was switched on.

I'm sure this was the site of a Market and there was a covered market in the centre of town.

I think these are Horlick's sports pitches. I certainly played cricket against them on their ground in the early sixties.

They also had a football pitch on this site, I remember watching a Sunday league match that included players that played for Slough Town FC in the Armature Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.

This was the site of one of the cricket pitches post WWII. I played for my neighbour's team - Bells Engineering - against other works teams. I think there was a small brick built hut close to the road where we used to put our kit.
