Railway bridge at Times Square, Longton. Referring to the photograph, Collectors Corner, seen on the right built into the base of the bridge, was formerly a tobacconist shop with a gents hairdrassers to the rear (1960s). Longton Town Hall is out out of shot to the left of the picture.

Anchor Road. This road ran uphill out of Longton towards Adderley Green. Beyond there the name of the road changed several times and ran (runs) through Bentilee (Dividy Road), crossing the A52 at Limekiln Bank, and eventually to Hanley.

Longton Cemetery lodge stood by the top gates of the cemetery. My uncle, Dennis Bowers was the registrar there for many years. As a boy, I spent many hours there visiting my Aunt, Ada Bowers, and my cousins. Aunty Ada made the thinnest chips you can imagine, and cut them at lightning speed. It's a wonder she had any fingers left!

The building stood facing Commerce Street. In the 1960s it was a popular venue each Saturday morning for children who went along to the ABC Minors Club to watch films and cartoons. Zorro, Batman, and the like, were shown as a series.
