Hi Hollinwood.

Can your local knowledge pin down the mill building that was, recently, or maybe still is being used by Thomas Glover, part of the Thorn group that made fire extinguishers?

Many Thanks

@ L E Watson, Thomas Glover is listed as Iris Mill, I think that is / was in Hathershaw, around 1 mile away from this shot.

Plaque from my grandads mantle clock. He was mill manager up to his death post WW2. My dad also worked at the mill for a short time.

Hi Hollinwood,

Thank you for that.

As an ignorant southerner I work on the principle that when you've seen one mill you've seen them all. But I was one of Glover's customers and I owe them much. I recalled Hollins Rd. as part of their address.

I visited it on several occasions during better times, for them and me. Inside it was definitely in the 'dark satanic' category, the light engineering function obscuring the finer points of it's layout and outside it was get back to M62 as quick as poss.

I appreciate your courtesy, Thanks again
