The 1850's Swimming Bath on Kyrle Street (Formerly, Venn Road) It's just about visible, identified by it's distinctive raised glass roof vents - The waters were originally heated by waste exhaust heat from the Steam Powered Flour Mills adjoining it on Bath Street - 1921: Plans for new Bathes on Edgar Street were being made. Stonebow House, on the corner of Stonebow Road and Commercial Street - Most locals (Including myself) would remember this as the home of R.P.Ravenhills, who were for a long time the Cities main Ford Dealership. though over the years it did have several other residents. Today, like my Mk1 Ford Escort the grand old building has long gone, and now...it's a drive-through KFC.

His Majesties Prison on Commercial Road, designed in part by the famous architect John Nash, was demolished circa 1932. Is today occupied by Hereford Bus Station, a Cinema/ Club/ Cafe/ Hairdressers complex - The cinema cafe was formerly known as The Ritz (then ABC) but ironically now it's now the Odeon, all very confusing, sorry.

1921: These buildings form what is probably best known as the old Hereford Union Workhouse - later it was also known as Longfield Buildings Poor Law Institution, then it became the Public Assistance Institution, and finally with the building of a modern "Art Nouveau" styled adjoining wing in 1937, The Hereford County Hospital. Much still remains of the old buildings but sadly not all.
