Playhouse cinema. Previously called the Electric Theatre. A very early picture house, predating the Granada by more than twenty years. It opened before 1914 and closed in 1959.

Many Burton's tailors were built in the London area at this time, in their own characteristic corporate art deco style. The upper floors were very often utilised as dance halls or snooker halls. A number of the buildings survive, but seldom still in Burton's (Arcadia Group) ownership.
